Kimble Solar offer renewable technologies installation, primarily solar panels, battery storage and EV charge points.

What is solar energy?

Solar energy is the radiant energy emitted by the sun, which can be harnessed and converted into electrical energy using solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.

These systems consist of solar panels made up of photovoltaic cells that absorb sunlight and generate direct current (DC) electricity through the photovoltaic effect. The DC electricity produced by the solar panels is then converted into alternating current (AC) electricity, which is the standard form of electricity used in homes and businesses, by an inverter. The resulting AC electricity can then be used to power various electrical appliances and devices.

What is the benefit of installing solar panels?

Solar panels can help you save money on your energy bills and reduce the carbon footprint of your property. They’re a reliable source of clean, renewable energy.

What are the industry-leading warranties?

At Kimble Solar, we are continually researching and testing solar PV brands and equipment to make sure we are recommending and installing only the best quality products in the market. Our main test criteria include performance, durability, customer service and warranty. All solar panel and battery brands offer warranty, but they can vary in duration. As an example:

- We recommend a solar panel brand called DMEGC. They offer a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year performance warranty. This means there’s 25-year warranty on the hardware so if anything physically breaks, it can be replaced, and a 30-year warranty on the performance of the panel. The DMEGC have an industry leading 0.4% annual degradation so if the power decreases any faster, then the warranty will cover this. Typically, batteries and inverters generally have a 10-year warranty.

How long does installation take?

Most standard systems are completed within a day, but larger projects might take several days. We’ll give you a specific timeline based on your needs. Scaffolding is typically set up 2-3 days prior and removed 1-2 days after. Remember, permits can add time and weather may cause rescheduling.

What do EV and PV stand for?

EV stands for Electric Vehicle and PV relates to Solar Photovoltaic panels. For more of the terminology you might find when researching renewable energy systems, check out our page on industry jargon.

How do I know if my roof is suitable for solar panels?

A south-, east- or west-facing roof can have solar panels fitted to it, though a south-facing roof is the most ideal. A north-facing roof won’t be as efficient so we wouldn’t recommend installing panels in this instance. The roof pitch should be between 20° and 50°.
